All about Arthritis Event

The Haywood Foundation are planning an event at the Haywood Hospital to mark World Arthritis Day on Friday 12th October 2018 (3.30-7.30) within the Haywood Hospital.

We are planning a market place type event where patients and the public can come along and hear information about their conditions, but more importantly how activity, exercise and self-management can help. The Haywood Foundation are kindly sponsoring the event with the help and input of many partners, patients and volunteers from the local community.

Thank You Doreen
Professor Andy Hassell and Kay Stevenson presented flowers to Doreen Eaton on her retirement from the Haywood Foundation in January 2018.

Doreen began her career at the Haywood Hospital over 40 years ago as an Auxiliary Nurse. During the last 10 years Doreen has worked as a Ward Clerk on the Haywood Hospital Sneyd Ward.

Doreen has been a member of the Haywood Foundation since its very first beginnings in 1977. Before this she was involved with the League of Friends run by Dr Ted Hothersall. During her time with the Foundation Doreen has been actively involved in all types of fund raising activities, from raising money for a new scanner and helping with summer fetes, to judging the winners of our popular hospital bake bake competitions.

“We will all miss Doreen as a member of the Foundation but wish her well and thank her so much for her time, energy and smiles”.

Bright Ideas Update February to April 2018
A big thank you to everyone that recently submitted ideas to the Haywood Foundation, Bright Ideas Project.

We had a great response and plenty of requests to consider.

These are just a few of the projects that you have suggested that we will be taking forward in the near future:
• The purchase of a baby highchair for use in the patient waiting area/ coffee shop facility
• The addition of new wheelchairs for out-patients use.

We have a number of other suggestions that we are looking at and we will let you know about the outcome of these requests after the Foundation meet again in July.

The Bright Ideas project is an ongoing venture so if you have any Bright Ideas, fill in one of our yellow cards and pop it in our yellow boxes, that can be found around the hospital

You could get between £10 and £10,000 to help you take forward your ideas to help people with arthritis and other related conditions.

Have you got a bright idea?

We want to enhance the lives of people with arthritis and related conditions.
As a local charity, The Haywood Foundation could support your ideas with funding. This could be any amount up to £10,000.
